NEW to the DESERT!
"FOREVER MARILYN" 26-Foot Tall Sculpture In Downtown Palm Springs
"Forever Marilyn" by American artist Seward Johnson, is located at the corner of Palm Canyon and Tahquitz Canyon Way and stands on a replica of the subway grate over which Monroe famously held down her skirt in the 1955 film "The Seven Year Itch'. Marilyn Monroe has legendary ties to Palm Springs, She was discovered at Charlie Farrell's Racquet Club and owned a 50's bungalow-style house in Las Palmas. Don't miss seeing Marilyn, if you are just visiting – have your photo taken with her. |

THE LIVING DESERT OPENS NEW MEERKAT EXHIBIT
The 360 foot exhibit is built at eye level so children can interact with the Meerkats. The exhibit contains sand with foraging areas and burrows, which features an extensive tunnel-and-room system for these popular and gregarious mammals. They are natives of the southern African plain, who seem to play all afternoon, each taking a turn being the lookout, while the others scamper about. | The GENERAL GEORGE S. PATTON MEMORIAL MUSEUM has been established to honor the late General George S. Patton and the thousands of men who served with him at the Desert Training Center. Exhibits display memorabilia from the General's life and career. The exhibit halls include the many and varied aspects of military life with particular focus on the Desert Training Center and soldiers of World War II. | Centuries ago, ancestors of the Agua Caliente Cahuilla Indians settled in the Palm Springs area and developed extensive and complex communities in canyons, traces of which still exist today: TAHQUITZ CANYON, at 500 W. Mesquite, just west of Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs, has been reopened to the public for the first time since 1971. It's the home to a spectacular 60-foot waterfall, rock art, ancient irragation systems, native wildlife and plants. Cabot's Pueblo Museum
A unique Hopi inspired Pueblo hand-made by Cabot Yerxa over 24 years. This multi-level building includes 35 rooms, 150 windows and 65 doors, all crafted from found materials. The museum houses Cabot's collection of Native American pottery, early 20th century photographs and artifacts from his Alaskan adventures. The museum grounds, including a picnic area, are beautifully landscaped with native plants and home to many rustic period items – early 1900's tools, machinery and house goods.
The museum also houses a Pueblo Art Gallery, a bookstore and the famed sculpture "Waokiye", a 43 foot tall Indian monument carved from a 750 year old Sequoia Redwood.
